Hi.

Can anyone help me with this recurring problem? I seem to be facing this error : Unable to generate a computational mesh for volume-flow region.

I tried importing the .stp file of my CAD with the added function of advanced repair upon import, and also clearing the geometries as much as possible using CATIA V5 as well but nothing seem to work. I even tried solving using higher accuracies but to no avail as well. Even filtering critical angles and small edges do not work.

Is there anything else which I could do?

I have attached my CAD drawing for reference purposes.

Thank you in advance for helping me with this problem

Bruce

Bruce:

I was able to read your .stp file, but it appears to contain only a few airfoils. I assume that you want to simulate the flow around the airfoils. If that is the case, you can create an external flow region in FloWizard, or return to your CAD model to create it.

To create the external flow region directly in FloWizard please follow the instructions in the documentation:

http://www.fluentusers.com/flo...External_Flow_Region

Tutorial 5, showing external flow region setup, is available at:

http://www.fluentusers.com/flo...aining_resources.htm

Please let me know if my understanding of your simulation is incorrect.

Best Regards,

Kirk

Hi Kirk,

Yes you defined my problem correctly. Despite tidying my geometry a few times, the volume flow-region would still not mesh. That even applies after smoothing my geometry a few times.

Are there any alternatives to mesh the volume?

Any ways which can pin-point the exact problem in my analysis?

Thank you for your help

Regards
Bruce

Bruce:

It may be best to have the FloWizard support team inspect your model.

Please load the model and archive it using the instructions at:

http://www.fluentusers.com/flo...sersguide/node75.htm

Once you have the resulting zip file in your working directory it can be sent by ftp to our support team. Please email me at flowizard-support@fluent.com and I can provide instructions for sending the file to the support team.

Best,

Kirk
